The Most Important Political event of the year will take place in Ames Iowa on August 13th. The Ames Straw poll is the most important and influential straw poll in Politics. Ron Paul is expected to make his official run for the Presidency on Friday next week in New Hampshire. The Ames straw poll was won by Mitt Romeney in 2007. However Mike Huckabee went on to win the Iowa Caucus with Romney coming in 2nd. Winning the Ames straw poll is critically important for the Ron Paul Campaign for one reason. It erases the notion that Ron Paul is "unelectable." Ron paul has already won the CPAC straw poll in Washington D.C in February and just raised over a Million dollars in his Moneybomb during the debate. With Money and straw poll victories it will be much harder for the establishment to ignore him in this campaign.
If you are a Ron Paul supporter you must do all you can to help Congressman Paul win the straw poll. If Ron doesnt win the straw poll, he wont win the Caucus. If he doesnt win the Iowa Caucus he wont win New Hampshire. History shows that if you do not win one of the first two contests then you do not go on to win the nomination. Its just that simple. Win Ames or go home. The good news is Ron is the first candidate to open an office in Iowa. It should get him and his loyal supporters time to get organized for the all important straw poll.
